After taking a break for the holidays, we begin again a whole new batch of Five Minute Fridays with Kate Motaung. This is a community of writers who write for 5 minutes, no over thinking, over-editing, over-planning just a free-writing each Friday on the same word prompt and then linking-up here. If you would like to join us, we would love to have you!
Our word prompt today: WELCOME
GO
Welcome 2015!
It’s a new year with new tomorrows. Blocks of empty days waiting to be filled with adventures, new ideas and life-changing decisions.
I love to welcome a new year with hope. It’s an adventure, this life. And we never know what a new year will hold.
I look back on my journals from 2014… reading through my words and remembering how at the time I didn’t see how God was going to work out the situation that I was writing about but then His faithfulness comes shining through and I welcome it as the amazing grace He gives.
I’m marking up and filling in blocks of time for this new year.
A new calendar hangs on my wall and the days look open and full of promise. Yet I also know those days can fill quickly with just the monotony of normal.
So this year I am looking to Him each day. Placing my trust in Him and welcoming His Presence with me as we walk together into a new set of days.
STOP
“I love to welcome a new year with hope.” Me too, Rachel! Enjoyed this – I’m returning the visit from FMF and by the way, I feel most welcome at your place!

I always love that a new year brings promise & hope… but every moment brings that as well if we think about it! Welcome to the new year!

There is just no way on God’s green-as-it-needs-to-be planet that I could write for only 5 minutes. It’s hard enough keeping comments to under one!

Too funny! Yes, it is harder than you think! When I first started I thought, “this will be easy” but I actually have to think about what I’m going to say and formulate my thoughts before I even hit “go” and have my conclusion lined up in my head before I even start typing. It’s a real discipline that I’m trying to hone in so that I’m actually thinking specifically about the one thing I truly want to say. I could easily ramble for 5 minutes but I don’t think anyone would want to read it. Some of the people who have been doing this for awhile come out with some pretty amazing words in 5 minutes. It’s definitely a challenge! 🙂
Thanks for your comment! You always put a smile on my face! And my husband always asks, “What’s so funny!” And I always say…”It’s Anthony!” Thanks for the chuckle!
