Five Minute Friday ~ Beautiful

Five Minute Friday

Last week I had so much fun over at Five Minute Friday, I’m diving in for another dip. Here’s the deal, Lisa Jo gives us a topic to write on for 5 minutes…no major editing, no thinking too much…just writing and linking back to her site. And the topic this week…drum roll please…is: Beautiful

Go-

So many things in my crazy, messed-up world can be called beautiful

…dishes done by someone else.

…a home-cooked meal I didn’t make.

…a long, cool shower on a squelching, hot day.

But today, my mind goes to beautiful yesterday.

~ The day was beginning too early.  I heard the turn of his doorknob and knew my slumber was soon to end.  Maybe if I keep my eyes closed he’ll move to Dad’s side of the bed instead.

I hear the soft, tender whisper, “Mom?”  And my eyes open to beautiful…

Beautiful boy…Beautiful love…for there he stands; pull-up adorned, black cowboy hat with his adored Phantom mask and one white sock…too large for him and pulled up to his thigh.

Tiger and him have come to say, “Good morning!” Beautiful

  1. Rachel,  your story made me smile, and reminded me of similar scenes .  Hope your day is beautiful.

  2. Aah… I know EXACTLY what you mean. My bunny does that to me too. I hear her little feet on the floor and I think I’ll pretend, but she just climbs into bed and elbows me all over the place until we cuddle. Then she kicks me out to get tea and it’s Daddy’s turn for elbows and snuggles.

  3. Awww….how precious! I was even a little envious! I miss those days so very much, cherish every moment Rachel, they are gone in a flash. I would give anything to have a little cowboy standing over me in the morning. 😦 How sweet was that! So glad you came to visit me or I would never have seen this treasure. Blessings…

  4. I typically get a little boy with a stuffed tiger to wake me up in the morning. And even though sometimes I’d rather sleep just a bit longer, in reality I wouldn’t trade those baby tiger snuggle for the world!
