A Sweet Treat

The day was hectic.  Answering phone calls, checking off the to-do list and trying to catch up from the busy weekend left me feeling wiped out before the week even began.

How was I to fit it all in?  My patience meter ticked down quickly as my frustration level rose.  Nothing insurmountable was plaguing me; just an everyday agenda with a few add-in’s here and there.

As I looked down at the mass of dishes before me, my eyes settled on the sweet treat Matthew had brought me earlier.

“Here, Mommy, for you!”

A slowing down moment to remember the simple beauty God brings us through His creation.

Walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers.  They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it?  If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do His best for you?  What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with “getting,” so you can respond to God’s “giving.”  Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions.  Don’t worry about missing out.  You’ll find all your every day human concerns will be met. ~ Matthew 6:28-33 (The Message)

The detail He puts into growing these small flowers…blossoming one day, fading the next…reminds me of how He cares.

I relax, breathe deep, and give thanks…thanks for all He is and how He cares.
